Dillian Whyte: Wilder has no respect for boxing skills

Dillian Whyte is coming off the most emphatic victory of his professional career after knocking out the formerly undefeated and former WBA-heavyweight titleholder Lucas Browne with a bone-chilling left hook in the sixth round.

Following that fight, ‘The Bodysnatcher’ made it readily apparent that his intended target moving forwards will be to challenge the undefeated 40-0 world heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder.

The Brixton slugger believes he has the beating of the Tuscaloosa native and ridiculed the champion for his limited boxing skills.

Furthermore, Whyte believes there is no reason for the fight to not happen because fighting him would end up being the most financially lucrative proposition of his professional career.

“Deontay Wilder seems to be a serious puncher but he’s got no respect for boxing skills or boxing technique.”

“There is lots of room and loopholes to outbox him and to knock him out as well.”

“As you can see that when he gets in trouble he’s in real trouble.”

“He doesn’t have a really good chin and he can be hit,”

“There is no reason why he shouldn’t take a fight with me. I am offering him career-high purses and it is going to be a good fight.

We are going to fill arenas. He has struggled to fill arenas in his hometown. I am not world champion but I packed out the O2,”

Eddie Hearn has been met with a brick wall at every attempt in his attempt to make Wilder vs Whyte.

But he predicts that soon ‘The Bronze Bomber’s’ hand will be forced and Whyte will become the mandatory challenger to that title.

“Dillian can box him in June or July or whenever. [Wilder] may have no choice, because if Mauricio Sulaiman orders the mandatory.”

“He boxed Stiverne which was an outstanding mandatory, but at some point in 2018 the WBC is going to call the mandatory,” Hearn said.

“We’re offering him $3 million dollars, plus U.S. TV [money], which [altogether] is around $4 million. I reckon that he made about $2.5 million against Ortiz.”

“But this week is going to be fun, because Wilder is coming to Cardiff and Dillian is coming to Cardiff, and there will be 80,000 people.”
