UPDATE: Mad boxing trainer might face 25 years in jail

Actions have consequences.

Leon Lawson made the biggest mistake of his life this past weekend. The trainer and uncle of Andre Dirrell violently assaulted opposing boxer Jose Uzcategui because the Venezuelan knocked out Dirrell after the bell had rung.

The aftermath of Dirrell’s eight round disqualification victory and his uncle’s actions has come down to this: a possible penalty of 25 years in jail for Lawson.

Lawson is being charged for a first degree assault and a second degree assault. A first degree assault would result in 25 year sentence. A second degree would get Lawson a penalty of ten years &/or a 2500 dollar fine.
