Luke Campbell intrigued by possibility of Vasyl Lomachenko clash

Luke Campbell has been talking about pitting his wits against the 2x Olympic Gold Medalist and reigning WBO world featherweight champion, Vasyl Lomachenko.

Campbell says being that it is a matchup between two Olympic champions, it is a matchup he would like to see happen.

Campbell currently holds a 17-2 record in the pro ranks and is coming off a decision loss to WBA world lightweight kingpin, Jorge Linares.

But he is now looking to bounce back from that with arguably an even sterner test in the form of Lomachenko.

“This is a massive fight. He’s a two-time Olympic champion, I’m Olympic champion.

He’s a world champion, but I want that world title as well,” Campbell said.

“A fight between me and him, I’m definitely up for. I love a challenge and I think it would be a great fight.”

“He’s probably pound-for-pound best on the planet, and that’s my opinion, so I highly rate him but why wouldn’t I want to challenge myself against someone like that?

I’ve got skill, speed, power, heart, and I’ll fight anyone.”

Also, Campbell touched on a growing desire burning inside him to avenge his two losses to Yvan Mendy and Jorge Linares.

“If you put Lomachenko out the window for a second, for me, my first two biggest fights I want, I want to clean my record.

I want Mendy. I need to clean that loss.

I want Linares. I need to clean that loss, and it’s two fights I’m certainly capable, confident that I can beat,” Campbell said.

Campbell also said that a fight against Anthony Crolla is still very much in his thoughts.

“Then there’s another big fight with me and Anthony Crolla.

“There’s three guys right there that are all potentially very big fights, and you’ve also got Lomachenko waiting there as well.”
