Mayweather Suggests A Significant Rule Change

Floyd Mayweather has suggested a rule change just weeks before the fight against Conor McGregor.

He will allow Conor McGregor to wear 8 ounce gloves. The original deal was to wear 10 ounce gloves but Mayweather has now agreed to fight with smaller gloves. Floyd made the announcement on his Instagram page.

“I’m telling McGregor, ‘Let’s fight in 8 oz gloves’. McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I’ll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves. Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate,” wrote Mayweather.

McGregor uses 4 ounce gloves in the UFC so this certainly might work in McGregor’s favour if the Nevada State Athletic Commission allows the rule change. So far the Irishman has not commented on Floyd’s suggestion.

Mayweather and McGregor are set to collide in this month at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
