Spence: Peterson better than Brook, Crawford just another fighter at 147!

Errol Spence Jr. came face to face with his next opponent Lamont Peterson this week.

Spence and Peterson actually share a friendship and both combatants have promised to put that relationship to one side, to provide a memorable spectacle for the fans.

At the press conference, Spence began by explaining “You’re going to see the same Errol Spence that you’re used to.”

Spence did claim that he cannot take the former champion lightly, having experienced his ability in sparring.

“I can’t look ahead because I know how dangerous Lamont Peterson is. I’ve been in training camps with him and I know what he can do.”

“I’ve seen too many fighters look down the road and get beat before they get to the big fight. I have to be 100 percent focused and hungry. I’m fully dedicated to this fight,” Spence added.

Furthermore, Spence explained he feels Peterson represents a more challenging adversary than the man he won the title from, Kell Brook. “Lamont can push me to even greater levels.

I feel like he is a better fighter than Kell Brook and has, even more, heart than Kell Brook and he can bring out the best in me.”

“I think it’s going to start out as a boxing match, but as we go on, it’s going to be a dogfight. We both have big hearts. I’ve never known Lamont to turn down any fight. Not a lot of people wanted to fight me.”

Following the press conference, Errol Spence caught up with Seconds Out and passed his judgement on the arrival of former undisputed jr welterweight world champion, Terence Crawford in the 147 lbs division.

“I don’t take any measure of him, it’s just like any other fighter coming to 147. it is what it is; I take it with (a pinch) of salt.”

“If it comes and we cross paths and they offer me the fight, I’m going to take the fight,” Spence said.

“People are saying he is the second coming of Floyd and he is going to wipe out the whole welterweight division.”

“If he does, so be it. Let’s see if he can do it.” Sizing up the potential match-up between them, Spence says he is the bigger man but acknowledged Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford’s phenomenal skill-set.

“He is a 140 lbs fighter, but he has skills. He wouldn’t be undisputed welterweight champion if he couldn’t fight” “The dude can fight, I take nothing from him,” Spence concluded.
