Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez Extends Matchroom Deal and Targets Third Division Title.

Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez has signed a long term promotional extension with Matchroom and will headline his first fight under the new deal on June 13, challenging Antonio Vargas for the WBA bantamweight title in Glendale, Arizona, live on DAZN.

Rodriguez will continue his career under the Matchroom banner after signing this extension with Eddie Hearn’s promotional company, solidifying one of the most consistent and successful partnerships in recent boxing.

Matchroom has been my home for the last four years, and I can’t wait to keep making history with them by my side,” Rodriguez said. “We have many more world titles to win and new divisions to conquer.”

The unbeaten American (23-0, 16 KOs) joined Matchroom in January 2022 and has since fought in nine consecutive world title bouts. His rise was immediate just one month after signing, he captured his first title with a victory over Carlos Cuadras in Phoenix. Since then, Rodriguez has established himself as a two division world champion, unifying titles at both flyweight and super flyweight.

Along the way, he has compiled a strong résumé, including victories over established names such as Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada, as well as wins over previously unbeaten champions like Sunny Edwards, Phumelele Cafu, and Fernando Martinez, reinforcing his place among the pound for pound elite.

The first fight under this new deal is already set. Rodriguez will move up to 118 pounds to challenge Antonio Vargas for the WBA bantamweight world title. The bout is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, with a global broadcast on DAZN.

The move marks another step in Rodriguez’s pursuit of building a legacy across multiple divisions, reflecting the competitive ambition that has defined his career since his emergence on the world stage.

Hearn meanwhile, reiterated his confidence in Rodriguez, whom he considers firmly entrenched among the best fighters in the world, highlighting his consistent willingness to take on the toughest challenges available.

The official announcement not only confirms Rodriguez’s continued partnership with Matchroom but also underscores his clear intent to build a legacy through activity, risk, and ambition at the elite level of the sport.
