Fabio Wardley includes Moses Itauma in top five heavyweight list

Fabio Wardley has revealed his current top five heavyweight boxers. He chose champions, boxers with fan favorites, and even included himself in the list.

The heavyweight division has long been the heartbeat of boxing. From iconic rivalries of the past to today’s mix of elite champions and rising contenders, the division continues to deliver drama that captures global attention.

And to pick just five heavyweights is a challenge in itself. However, Wardley has shared his list of current top heavyweights.

The WBO heavyweight champion shared his picks during a recent interview with DAZN, offering a blend of skill, entertainment value, and personal preference in his lineup.

Wardley includes Oleksandr Usyk at the top

Wardley began his list with Oleksandr Usyk, widely regarded as one of the best heavyweights of this era.

“Oleksandr Usyk,” Wardley said, acknowledging the Ukrainian’s dominance. Currently, the Ukrainian is scheduled to defend his WBC heavyweight title against all-time great kickboxer Rico Verhoeven on May 23 at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

Wardley also included Derek Chisora, highlighting his appeal to fans.

“Although seemingly retired, Derek Chisora, fan favourite of mine,” he added.

Chisora’s inclusion reflects his reputation for consistently delivering entertaining fights, even late into his career.

In a confident move, Wardley also named himself among the top heavyweights.

“I’ll throw myself in the mix in there as well. I think I’m pretty entertaining,” Wardley said.

Tyson Fury and Moses Itauma complete Wardley’s list

Wardley rounded out his selections with Tyson Fury and rising prospect Moses Itauma.

“I do like Tyson Fury and the fun side of it with him,” Wardley explained, pointing to Fury’s personality and presence outside the ring.

He also praised Itauma for his talent and excitement.

“And then from a skill and just entertainment factor, Moses Itauma.”

Itauma has been on a great run, consistently delivering exciting fights. He holds a perfect professional record of 14 victories, with 12 coming via stoppages.

Wardley’s list combines established champions, experienced veterans, and emerging prospects, reflecting the different aspects that make a heavyweight stand out. However, he didn’t include the Olympic gold medalist and former two-time unified heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua, and many others.

He also didn’t pick his next rival, Daniel Dubois, against whom he is set to defend his WBO heavyweight belt for the first time at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester on May 9

The heavyweight division has been delivering great fights, and Wardley taking on Dubois will add another great fight to the list, as the two combined have a record of 40 knockouts. Adding more expectations to an already highly anticipated bout.

Fans around the world can watch this event live on DAZN pay-per-view.
