Frank Bruno weighs in on Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: “Joshua has everything”

The long-awaited clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is finally set. Promoters Eddie Hearn and Turki Alalshikh have confirmed that the fight will take place later this year.

This fight is widely seen as the biggest showdown in British boxing history. Many analyst and fans are already sharing their predictions for the fight.

The former WBC heavyweight world champion Frank Bruno has chimed in with his verdict for the fight. He shared an honest and balanced view of the fight.

Bruno highlights Joshua’s mindset as a key factor against Fury

In his recent appearance on ‘Seconds Out’, Bruno shared his thoughts. He focused on Joshua’s mindset. He believes that the outcome depends heavily on how Joshua approaches the fight.

“Anthony Joshua, I don’t know what sort of head he is coming in with,” Bruno said. “If he comes in and he fancies the job, he is a dangerous guy and he can punch hard.”

Bruno made it clear that confidence could change everything. When Joshua believes in himself, he becomes a serious threat to anyone in the division.

The former champion also pointed to the familiarity between the two fighters. Fury and Joshua have followed each other’s careers for years.

“They know each other and I hope that it is a good fight and that the best man wins,” Bruno said. “Because I like Tyson Fury and I like Anthony Joshua as well.”

Bruno also addressed Joshua’s preparation. He praised the decision to train with Oleksandr Usyk.

“I think it’s a good move,” Bruno said. “That’s all good experience for Anthony Joshua.”

Bruno did not hold back when describing Joshua’s physical ability.

“Joshua has everything,” he said. “He looks like a gorilla and he can punch a tree trunk down if he believes in himself.”

That statement captures Joshua’s raw power. Few heavyweights can match his strength when he lets his hands go.

Bruno warns Joshua

However, Bruno quickly added a warning.

“If he doesn’t believe in himself then Tyson Fury [can cause problems].”

This contrast sums up the fight perfectly. Joshua’s success depends on confidence. Without it, Fury’s skill and movement could take over.

Before Tyson fights, Joshua has a challenge ahead. He is scheduled to take on Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Many see this fight as a warm-up fight.

As the former two-time unified heavyweight champion has gone through a lot in personal life, he was involved in a car accident that claimed the lives of his two friends. Just weeks after his knockout victory over Jake Paul.

Meanwhile, Fury ended his long hiatus in April. He faced Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He secured a dominant 119-109, 120-108, 120-108 victory.

The planned bout is expected to go ahead later this year; however, no date or venue has been announced, but it’s likely that it will take place in the UK.
