Abdullah Mason Expects to KO Joe Cordina

Red-hot American fighter, Abdullah Mason, anticipates another statement knockout win when he puts his WBO lightweight world championship on the line against Joe Cordina on July 4 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland atop a Top Rank card on DAZN.

Mason won the belt in his last fight when he scored a 12-round decision win over Sam Noakes at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, and so his return to the ring, this summer, is his first fight back in the State he grew up in.

Part of the reason for his absence from the ring is, arguably, the delay in which Top Rank was able to secure a distribution deal but now that they’ve secured the DAZN partnership, one of the promotion’s best fighters is back — and he said this week he’s “here to have a lot of fun.”

When asked if he anticipates a knockout win over Cordina, who has only been stopped once in 20 fights, he said “for sure,” but was loathe to elaborate. “I’m not going to tell you how it’s going to go down, I know July 4th, I’m going to enjoy it just as much as Cleveland is going to enjoy it.”

Cordina, who has fought Shavkatdzhon Rakhminov and Anthony Cacace, among others, said the day might be “massive … for America” but “it’s a massive day for boxing.”

“Abdullah is a good fighter, but I’m looking to come f*** up his homecoming.”

“I’m coming to rip his heart out and bring it back to the UK,” he finished.
