Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua, widely viewed as the biggest boxing fight in British history, has been signed for later this year, with the bout confirmed by Turki Alalshikh and Eddie Hearn.
Ahead of the fight, Fury has taken aim at Joshua following Daniel Dubois’ WBO heavyweight title victory over Fabio Wardley at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester.
Dubois recently became a two-time heavyweight world champion after stopping Wardley in round 11 following a brutal battle that many fans have already labeled an early Fight of the Year contender.
After watching the fight, Fury compared Dubois’ performances against several heavyweight opponents and used it to question Joshua’s durability.
Fury compares Joshua to Dubois’ other opponents
In his Instagram post, Fury pointed out that Dubois failed to officially knock down several other heavyweights despite eventually stopping some of them.
“Well, I’ve just been sat here thinking after Dubois’ unbelievable fight last night,” Fury said.
Fury first mentioned Dubois’ stoppage victories over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic.
“Dubois fought ‘Big Baby’ Miller, stopped him, but never put him down,” Fury said.
“Then he fought Hrgovic, stopped him, but never put him down.”
Fury also referenced Dubois’ latest fight against Wardley and his clash with Oleksandr Usyk.
“He fought Wardley last night in an unbelievable fight, stopped him, and never put him down,” Fury continued.
“He hit Usyk with some big bombs, never put him over.”
Fury labels Joshua ‘chinny’
Fury then shifted his focus directly toward Joshua, recalling Dubois’ dominant stoppage victory over the former heavyweight champion.
“But yet he fights Anthony Joshua and pummels him to the floor five times,” Fury said.
Dubois previously stopped Joshua in the fifth round of their 2024 clash at Wembley Stadium, dropping the former two-time unified heavyweight champion four times before the knockout victory.
While Fury stopped short of outright calling Joshua “chinless,” he heavily implied that Dubois exposed weaknesses in Joshua’s durability.
“I’m not saying Anthony Joshua’s chinless, but they’re the facts,” Fury stated.
“Take it as you wish and as you will.”
Fury continued comparing Joshua to the other heavyweights Dubois has faced.
“Everybody else never went over. Not a singular person, ‘Big Baby’ Miller, Hrgovic, Usyk, or Wardley, but Joshua goes down five times.”
Fury then finished with a blunt one-word verdict.
“Chinny!”
Before facing Fury, Joshua still has another challenge ahead of him. The Olympic gold medalist is scheduled to take on Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in what is widely being viewed as a tune-up fight before the proposed showdown with the ‘Gypsy King.’
Meanwhile, Frank Warren recently revealed that Fury could also take an interim bout beforehand, explaining that the former champion does not want to remain inactive while waiting for the Joshua clash.
Things are continuing to heat up between Fury and Joshua, only increasing anticipation for what could become one of the biggest heavyweight showdowns in recent boxing history.
