Jake Paul recently admitted that his boxing future remains uncertain after suffering serious injuries during his knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua in December.
Just a few days after hinting that retirement could become a real possibility, Paul has reignited talks of a potential showdown with Canelo Alvarez, claiming he has a massive $200 million offer ready for the Mexican superstar.
The social media star turned boxer reportedly suffered a double jaw fracture and lost a back tooth, later undergoing multiple surgeries during his recovery process following a devastating defeat to Joshua.
During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul openly admitted that doctors have not yet determined whether he will be medically cleared to compete again.
“We’ll see what my doctors say,” Paul said at the time.
The 29-year-old also acknowledged that retirement had crossed his mind while continuing his recovery.
However, now, Paul appears determined to get a fight against Alvarez.
Paul and Alvarez were reported to have been in talks last year. The proposed fight never materialised after a major shift in Alvarez’s plans.
Instead, a massive multi-fight agreement backed by Turki Alalshikh redirected the Mexican star toward a long-discussed showdown with Terence Crawford.
Jake Paul claims he has $200 million ready for Canelo Alvarez
In a video shared on the Betr Instagram account, Paul revealed that he believes the fight is still possible and insisted the financial side is already in place.
“Canelo, I have the $200 million for you, easy money,” Paul said.“Jake vs Canelo, let’s get it done.”
Paul then argued that a fight between the two would generate unprecedented attention across the sport. “This is what the fans have been waiting for,” he added.
“This is the biggest fight that could possibly be made in boxing.”
The social media star turned boxer also claimed discussions with Alvarez had already taken place privately.
Paul says Alvarez is interested in fight
Paul went a step further by suggesting that the former champion has already shown interest behind the scenes.
“Canelo said he’s down on the phone,” Paul claimed.
“So, we’re going to make it happen.”
Paul continued pushing for the fight and again referenced the enormous figure attached to the proposed deal.
“I have the $200 million,” he said. “I think that’s going to be the next fight. Sign the contract, Canelo.”
Meanwhile, Alvarez has recently been heavily linked to a reported showdown against Christian Mbilli later this year.
Meanwhile, Paul’s future remains uncertain, and it’s unclear when he will be back inside the ring.
Alvarez is reported to face Mbilli, which is expected to take place in September, and he will need 3-4 months to be back. Paul needs to heal his injuries if everything goes right. The fight could have been in mid 2027 or late 2027.
Whether the fight ever becomes reality remains uncertain, but Paul has once again placed himself directly into the conversation.
