Post-fight footage from Terence Crawford’s epic win over Errol Spence Jr last month has emerged – and features a certain Adrien Broner eating a slice of humble pie.
Broner vehemently and publicly backed Spence to emerge with the undisputed welterweight world championship on July 29, only for the Texan to be dismantled and stopped in nine rounds by the near flawless Crawford.
However, there were clearly no hard feelings between Broner and ‘Bud’ in the aftermath of the contest, as this candid clip shows.
“What I’m telling you is this though – I am proud of you. I’m just happy I was able to be here to witness it.
It will be interesting to see what Broner’s prediction will be if a rematch between the two Americans is indeed to be next, with all signs pointing to Spence triggering a contractual rematch clause for a second attempt at handing the Omaha man his first 0.
Should Crawford vs Spence 2 happen, Spence will need to hope the extra 7lbs makes a world of difference, as he was on the end of a one sided beating at the hands of Crawford in Las Vegas.
So brutal was the damage that ‘The Truth’ incurred that night, that some observers have even began to issue calls for him to retire from boxing for the good of his long term health, with his 2018 car accident also feeding into that narrative.
For now, however, that seems out of the question, and it looks like fight fans should get ready to strap themselves in for Crawford vs Spence 2 towards the back end of this year.
