Adrien Broner has weighed in with his prediction for the upcoming undisputed super middleweight world title clash between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Jermell Charlo.
After getting his prediction for last month’s undisputed welterweight clash between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr badly wrong, Broner will be hoping to restore boxing fans’ faith in his knowledge for this one.
And ‘AB’ told Fight Hub he’s backing Charlo to upset the odds against ‘Canelo’ – and revealed he will be putting his money where his mouth is.
“I love Canelo, but I just can’t go against Charlo. We ain’t got the best relationship in the world, but I’m not going against my *****! I can’t, I’m not doing it. It ain’t going to ever happen, and I hope he wins.”
“And I’m betting!”
Undisputed super welterweight champion Charlo will move up two weight divisions on September 30 to challenge for Canelo’s undisputed crown at 168lbs.
Despite this, there is a view amongst some that the size difference won’t be overly prevalent, given the two actually campaigned at the same weight class not so long ago
There are all those who believe that Charlo may just have landed a fight against the Mexican at just the perfect time.
‘Canelo’ is coming off three less than glittering performances against Dmitry Bivol, Gennadiy Golovkin and John Ryder, with many pundits, ex fighters and fans of the opinion that the 33 year old is on the slide.
That said, Charlo is still a wide betting underdog and him landing the victory next month would still go down as one of 2023’s big upsets.
