Adrien Broner has weighed in with a prediction for the mega fight this weekend between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia.
The two American stars will lock horns at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in what is arguably the most hotly anticipated clash of the boxing calendar for 2023 so far.
Speaking to FightHub TV, Broner revealed he is siding with betting favourite ‘Tank’ to get the job done on April 22nd.
“I’m pretty sure y’all know whose side I’m on, of course I’m with ‘Tank.’ But I think it’s going to be a bigger fight than people think, as far as in the ring.
I know it’s going to be a big fight to the fans, of course. But in the ring, it’s going to be a more competitive fight than people think.
I think ‘Tank’s skills is just above these guys, plus he’s got that show stopper.
As long as he’s 100% straight and focused, I don’t think he’ll have a problem with Ryan.”
The pair will fight at a catchweight of 136lbs, which has came under criticism from certain quarters given the fact both Garcia and Davis have fought at 140lbs in recent outings.
Furthermore, a 10lbs rehydration clause is in place, which is thought to be a further disadvantage to ‘King Ry,’ who, at 5’10, stands 5 inches taller than Davis.
Whether these terms are fair or not, the consensus is that boxing worldwide are just happy the blockbuster fight will take place, after a back and forth public negotiation process which, at one point, looked sure to collapse.
Garcia and Davis are two of the biggest stars in boxing, and their bout is tipped to generate huge numbers in both pay per view sales this Saturday night.
