Four-weight World champion Adrien Broner has fallen foul of VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency) after failing to notify the authority of his whereabouts and subsequently missing a doping test.
Broner, whose career has been littered with a series of out-of-the ring incidents including an arrest for assault and battery in 2017 and sexual battery in 2018, was flagged by the agency on August 26th as reported by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman on his official Twitter account.

While it is yet unclear as to the repercussions of missing the test, VADA (considered to be the ‘gold standard’ of anti-doping in the sport) are known for taking a strict stance on athletes missing tests.
As per their official documentation, VADA fighters required to provide testing agents a sixty-minute window as to their whereabouts, a missed test is akin to a failure to submit a sample – and could carry a financial penalty or even a suspension from the sport. The latest indiscretion in Broner’s career comes as little surprise to fans of the sport. Once considered one of boxing’s brightest prospects, the Ohioan has been blighted by a lack of discipline and his personal life shrouded in controversy.
With a fight announcement yet to be made for the 29-year-old, it is unknown at this point as to whether the violation is likely to affect a possible ring return.
