Much loved British heavyweight Dave Allen has been casting his mind back to his recent loss to Frazer Clarke.
‘The White Rhino’ was an unlikely star of many Sky Sports boxing shows for several years. He was known for stepping up and fighting anyone, even at short notice.
His career took in big nights against Dillian Whyte, Tony Yoka, Luis Ortiz, David Price, sparring with Oleksandr Usyk, and a couple of shots at the Commonwealth heavyweight title, whilst also earning a KO over Lucas Browne with a fine body shot in 2019.
His last contest was against Olympic medallist Frazer Clarke back in September 2023. He retired himself in the sixth round owing to a perforated ear drum and speaking to IFL TV, the always candid Doncaster fighter has now reflected on that night.
“Frazer Clarke wasn’t a hard fight. I think I got caught with two clean punches all night. When I pulled myself out in the corner, I’m ashamed of myself really. It was a cowardly thing to do. He would have got disqualified too [for low blows] now I Iook back. He would have got chucked out.
“I just want to do my thing. In doing my thing I feel I’m helping a few others like Stevie Levi [the boxer he is managing].”
