The now retired Amir Khan is tipping Conor Benn to become Britain’s next pay-per-view star.
Last week the 35-year-old announced his departure from the sport after a 17-year professional career.
A former world champion at 140lbs, and no stranger to being a pay-per-view himself, Khan is backing the Matchroom star to be a box office attraction.
“I think Conor Benn could make it definitely. I think Eddie [Hearn] is holding him back too much,” Khan said during a media call yesterday.
“He needs to go and prove himself like when I went and fought Maidana. I fought Maidana when no-one expected me to win. He needs to do the same thing. He needs to fight Vergil Ortiz or beat someone. I think he could be a very big pay-per-view star
“You’ve got Anthony Joshua who I think is an amazing pay-per-view star. Fury who in my opinion is one of the best fighters to come out of Britain, a pay-per-view star. I think the Azim brothers are amazing talents. They’re beasts. They’ll go far.”
