Over two years since his retirement, it appears as though former super-lightweight world champion Amir Khan could be finally poised to return to the ring, as rumours of a shock opponent begin to gain traction.
Khan has fought just once since July 2019, that being a February 2022 appearance against long-term rival Kell Brook, where he was knocked out in the sixth-round before both men confirmed their retirements from the sport.
However, ever since that encounter, both Khan and Brook have clearly caught ‘itchy-knuckle syndrome’ and have been continuously linked to comeback fights against Jake Paul and Conor Benn respectively.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul’s controversial professional fight with a 57-year-old Mike Tyson has been postponed after an ulcer flare-up, opening the door for a new opponent to step in and save the July 20th event at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
On social media, ‘The Problem Child’ offered the opportunity to fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI, before a public disagreement showed complications in the proposal and explained why the high-profile influencer encounter has not been staged as of yet.
Paul: “KSI’s coach saying he is over 200lbs right now? So no weight excuses… Let’s run it for July 20th and then Paul-Tyson in October/November”
KSI: “I’ve already got a fight lined up in August. Instead of you fighting an OAP at the end of the year (no one wants to see this), fight me in December instead.”
Paul: “I just gave KSI and his forehead the opportunity again for July. He said he’s fighting in August. Cool. I’m fighting in October/November. February it is, 200 lbs, MSG, NYC. Get it done @MostVpromotions.”
KSI: “You asked for 185 Jake you fraudulent t**t. The old folks home has run out of options. This is all just noise. You don’t really want to fight. December, let’s run it at 185. No bull***t. No excuses.”
With KSI poised to fight in August, fans have been left guessing who his next dance-partner will be, but Paul took to twitter to seemingly spoil the surprise that was then confirmed by Amir ‘King’ Khan.
Paul: “KSI vs Amir Khan I f**k with. Good entertainment.”
Khan: “If he dies, he dies. Then F**k Jake Paul up.”
Paul: “You will kill the forehead if you actually take it serious. Then we can run it in February and I’m going to splatter you like [Breidis] Prescott
Khan: “Send contract or go back to Disney b***h.
The KING is back. News coming soon…”
Jake Paul has often been slated for being a weight-bully in the boxing ring, campaigning in the cruiserweight division but facing the likes of Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren – who fought at 170lbs in the UFC.
Now it seems KSI is opting for a similar route by taking on Khan, who last appeared against Brook in a 149lb catchweight bout, whilst KSI weighed in at 181lbs when he lost to Tommy Fury in his most recent appearance.
