We’ve had behemoths, sausages, dossers, and a mysterious contract as a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua comes close. Now, add to that list a freestyle rap…
Anthony Joshua broke his silence today around the fight contract he must sign should fans want to see him face Fury in Cardiff this December. Whilst he insisted he was planning on agreeing to the terms, he said the contract was currently with lawyers to ensure it was a fair deal.
His message comes amidst tensions in the negotiation. Fury last night, in attendance for the Joe Joyce – Joseph Parker heavyweight clash, told ‘AJ’ that he had until Monday to sign or the fight was off.
Whilst Monday seems unlikely for everything to be confirmed, Joshua was keen to point out he wasn’t ‘kicking back’ by rapping about the matter on Instagram.
“I’m doing what I’m doing,
Who the f*ck are they fooling?
I see people say yo I got to sign the contract,
What do you think I’m doing, man? Do you think I’m kicking back?
I’m in the place trying to get negotiations,
Ain’t no f**king hesitation.
I’ve been fighting champions for seven years straight,
Anybody else do that? I’ll wait…”

Who knew that a rap battle was what this fight build-up needed? ‘The Gypsy King’, a fan of performing a tune or two himself, may just see fit to respond to this one.
The style of the message aside, fans will hope that this engagement from Joshua may give Fury’s team the assurances they need that, whilst it may not happen tomorrow, the fight is still what he wants.
If we were a music review outlet rather than a boxing news one, we’d give it 7/10 – but that number might be bumped up if it’s the deciding factor in bringing about one of the biggest fights in British history…
