Anthony Joshua’s trainer has been speaking about his man’s devastating knockout of Francis Ngannou saying ‘he sold him down the river.’
This was Ben Davison’s second fight with Joshua and it was another knockout win. This one came in the second round when Joshua had knocked the ex-UFC champion down twice with two right hands, then delivered a third which Ngannou couldn’t get up from.
Speaking to Boxing News, Davison was asked about the game plan heading into the fight.
I’m not going to go into it too much but he sold him down the river and made him pay, that was it.”
He was then asked what it is he has done with Joshua to help transform his fortunes in the last two fights with impressive knockout wins over first Otto Wallin and now Ngannou.
“Just clarity. He’s an Olympic gold medalist, two-time unified heavyweight champion of the world. He has an unbelievable tool bag and we’ve just helped him select the right tools, that’s it.
“Always pressure. I don’t do it to please the public. I do it to please and help the fighter achieve their goals and their dreams whether that’s a six-round fight or the heavyweight championship of the world. So there’s pressure on every fight. But no pressure no diamonds. You’ve got to enjoy it.”
After four fights in 11 months, Joshua might now take some time out and wait for the undisputed fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury on May 18.
