Felix Cash’s fight against Matteo Signani for the European Middleweight title has been removed from the Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin undercard as a result of Cash suffering an illness.
The contest was due to be a final run out for Cash before a big cross Atlantic clash with Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams, who takes on River Wilson Bent on the same card.
Galal Yafai vs Moises Calleros, which was due to take place in San Antonio next week, has been drafted in as a replacement bout on the card.
Cash is the second fighter from Tony Sims’ gym to withdraw from the show at the O2 this weekend, after Craig Richards vs Ricards Bolotniks was cancelled due to a hand injury picked up by Richards.
British heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley will be chief support, as he takes on Michael Coffie, who was once considered a top prospect over in the United States.
Campbell Hatton will look to continue his progression in his second fight of 2023, with run outs also for John Hedges and Jordan Flynn.
It’s all about top of the bill in London, however, with the Franklin fight considered absolutely vital if Joshua is to have any ambitions of becoming heavyweight champion of the world for a third time.
Fans will get to see ‘AJ’ under new trainer Derrick James for the first time, who many hope could bring a return to the entertaining and destructive style that made the Brit so popular in his early career
Franklin put in a solid showing when he was defeated by Dillian Whyte last November, however Joshua still goes into the contest as wide betting favourite, and will be looking to make a statement on his return.
The fight will be available for fight fans to watch on DAZN across the globe.
