Anthony Joshua relocated to Dallas, Texas at the start of this year to become the latest member of trainer Derrick James’ already formidable stable – joining the likes of Jermell Charlo and Errol Spence Jr.
Undisputed super welterweight champion Charl is one of the leading lights at World Class Boxing Gym, and will move up two weight classes to challenge Saul ‘Canelo Alvarez’ for the Mexican’s four super middleweight world titles on September 20.
Speaking to media including Boxing Social, Joshua revealed that James, Charlo and the whole time are feeling confident ahead of the ‘Canelo fight,’ and gave two simple reasons why.
“With Charlo, they’re confident that he’ll beat Canelo. And the reason is, speed and strength.”
“I rate Canelo though, they say that he’s finished. But you’re only finished when you’re done, you know what I mean.”
The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will play host to the historic clash between Charlo and Alvarez, which will be the first occasion on which two male reigning undisputed world champions have fought in the four belt era.
There is a view that Alvarez has shown signs of decline in recent fights against John Ryder, Gennadiy Golovkin and of course his defeat to Dmitry Bivol, and that his best days could well be behind him.
Charlo, on the other hand, is coming off one of the best performances of his career last time out, when he stopped Brian Castano in the tenth round of their rematch and was crowned undisputed champion at 154lbs.
