Legendary promoter Bob Arum has offered the names of three fighters that he believes can become the first to defeat Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
Davis stopped Ryan Garcia back in April in one of the standout performances of the year and, ever since, he has been linked to bouts against his fellow lightweight and even super-lightweight rivals.
Now, after Devin Haney vacated his titles at 135lbs, ‘Tank’ may be upgraded from WBA regular champion to the full WBA super champion or ordered to fight for the vacant belt.
Despite Davis’ potential championship status, Arum believes that Shakur Stevenson, Teofimo Lopez and Vasily Lomachenko would be able to trump the formidable power-puncher, as per Fight Hub TV.
“All three I think would beat Davis, I really believe that, but that’s why they do the fights, they get in the ring to determine who is better. I think Shakur beats him, I think Teofimo beats him and I think Lomachenko beats him.”
I think that he [Davis] is the real deal, that is why we are talking about him. He is a hell of a performer, a terrific athlete, terrific boxer, but so are the other three guys mentioned.”
Tank has most recently been linked to a clash with Haney after the 25-year-old became a two-division champion with a win over Regis Prograis earlier this month.
However, Haney’s father, Bill, and promoter, Eddie Hearn, have both claimed that ‘Tank’ has turned down a monumental offer for the all-American showdown.
