Tyson Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum has mischievously claimed that the Mancunian’s arch-rival Anthony Joshua is “chinny”.
With hopes of an undisputed world heavyweight title clash between WBC king Fury and WBA Super, WBO and IBF champion Joshua gathering pace this week after fruitful talks over a two-fight deal, Arum has questioned AJ’s ability to take a shot amid growing hype.
“Joshua has a chinny chin chin,” Arum told Talksport’s Fight Night show, referencing Andy Ruiz Jr’s shock seventh-round stoppage win in June 2019. “And if he got knocked out by Andy Ruiz, who can’t punch…
“Look at Andy’s record, he fought all of his [previous] fights with us.”
But the Hall of Fame promoter remains hopeful that a Fury-Joshua mega-fight will happen if the rival champions prevail in their contracted fights with Deontay Wilder and Kubrat Pulev respectively.
“Joshua has a fight before the end of the year with my guy – Kubrat Pulev – a very tough Bulgarian,” added Arum. “And Tyson has a third fight to do with Wilder and that is not an easy fight.
“So again, sure, if they come through those fights why wouldn’t we get together and do a two-fight deal for Fury and Joshua?”
