Tony Bellew has revealed that he and lineal world heavyweight champion had a chance to speak with one another via a phone call, recently.
Bellew says that he and Fury traded barbs and let each other know they want to inflict pain one another.
“I spoke to him a little while back. We had a chat and we went over a few things and that was it,” said Bellew.
“There wasn’t really much to say besides ‘I want to fight you, you want to fight me. You’re Ring belt magazine champion, I like your belt, I want to punch your face in.
“In his defence, it’s like, ‘listen you haven’t got a chance, I’m going to punch your face in,” Bellew added.

Sizing up the man behind the fighter, Bellew did share a few complimentary comments about Fury. Bellew credited Fury as a trustworthy opponent.
Tyson Fury is a man of his word, so he’s good to deal with,” said Bellew.
Although, Bellew was quick to add that while he believes Fury is a gifted fighter. Bellew does believe a fight with Fury is a winnable proposition.
“A brilliant fighter, but I definitely reckon the way things have gone and the way the land lies at the moment, I definitely reckon I can beat him.”
Bellew had previously said he didn’t want to fight a true full fledged heavyweight such as champions, Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.
Eddie Hearn, Bellew’s promoter shared to Sky Sports’ Toe 2 Toe podcast that Bellew wants the Fury fight and believes his lack of one punch knockout power creates a different scenario.
Bellew believes he could have opportunities to stand on the inside and trade with a Fury where he doesn’t believe he’d be able to hold his own in a similar situation with Joshua and Wiilder.
Bellew did also share that Tyson’s fury ongoing UKAD hearing must be resolved before a potential fight is conceivable though.”Tyson’s got a long way to go, he’s got various hearings to go through, but the thing that is most clear about me and Tyson – we want to fight each other, so that’s there for everyone to see.
On a final note, Bellew did share that while he waits for a Fury fight to become a reality, in the meanwhile he has a score to settle in a rematch against David Haye.
“That’s clear for me and David, we’ve got history. We’ve got to put an end to the saga that we’re going through,” Bellew concluded.
