Tony Bellew Names Opponent For Anthony Joshua: “Who Wouldn’t Want To See That?”

Following his win in Saudi Arabia, Anthony Joshua is now being paired with a breakout boxing star by Tony Bellew who asks ‘who wouldn’t want to see that?’

Joshua’s third fight in 2023 came on the huge Day of Reckoning card on December 23 and was his most impressive performance of the lot.

He quickly got to Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin and started to inflict damage from the off. Eventually, Wallin was pulled out between rounds and ahead of the start of the sixth with many saying ‘AJ’ was back to his big-hitting best.

It was his first fight with Ben Davison on his corner and now all talk has turned to who he might fight next.

Speaking to iFL TV, former cruiserweight world champion Bellew had a suggestion of his own when asked whether Joshua should try and go down the IBF route and win a third world title.

“Do you know what, I’m not so sure because I’m not sure what belts are going to be up for grabs after [February 17 when Uysk and Fury fight]. What I would say is there’s only big fights out there for him. I’m going to put it out there, who wouldn’t want to see AJ versus [Francis] Ngannou?”

Former UFC champion Ngannou got ranked by the WBC following his impressive showing against Tyson Fury back in October. He boxed well and even secured a knockdown in the third round before losing a close split decision.  He is now on many people’s radars, though it seems more likely Joshua will hunt down a world title.
