This weekend in Manchester sees Conor Benn continue his path towards a world title shot but on the same night in Texas a welterweight unification takes place.
Benn aims to make it 21 wins from 21 fights against Chris Van Heerden, solidifying his top five slot with three of the four governing bodies. Across the pond the winner of Errol Spence Jr and Yordenis Ugas will be just one title away from becoming undisputed champion at 147lbs with only WBO holder Terence Crawford in their way.
The British welterweight has his own global ambitions and will have an eye on how matters at the AT&T Stadium play out. Boxing Social’s Ayman Khan recently caught up with ‘The Destroyer’ and asked him for his prediction.
“Could it be that one too many at the weight for Spence?” asked Benn.
“Obviously, Spence had his injury as well. He’s talking about moving up in weight so could that be a factor in the fight. Normally some fighters have that one fight too many like Josh Taylor for example. One too many where it just takes too much out of them. I believe Spence will come out on top. I don’t believe it’ll be easy though.”
