There appears to be no love lost between Bernard Hopkins and Bill Haney.
The pair came together following the Golden Boy show topped by Vergil Ortiz Jr’s win over Fredrick Lawson, which also featured Ismael Barroso’s first round knockout of Ohara Davies.
In a clip shared by ES News, Hall of Fame fighter Hopkins tells Haney he wants to ‘speak in the bathroom’ to settle any difference off camera. Haney enters the frame and says ‘get out what you get mad at’ before the pair walk into the crowd together.
Hopkins then appears to shove the father and trainer of the WBC’s Super-Lightweight Champion before security step in to seperate them. Haney reacted:
“That’s nothing. Just like I said, for all the dads around the world, you’re not gonna be bullied by Bernard Hopkins or nobody. I got the best fighter in the world and I’m here to represent. He told me to follow him. Did he not tell me to follow him? And didn’t I follow him? Where’d he want me to go? I’d go to hell and jail for Devin Haney. The best fighter in the world.”
Whilst it’s unclear if there was a particular comment to spark ‘B-Hop’s request, the two have recently been linked due to Devin’s negotiations to fight Ryan Garcia, who is currently represented by Golden Boy.
