Artur Beterbiev put on another impressive knockout performance at the weekend, so much so that Tony Bellew has been left questioning how he generates his power.
Despite one former opponent of Beterbiev, Anthony Yarde, predicting an ‘interesting fight’, Beterbiev remained a three-belt world light heavyweight champion with his relatively straight-forward destruction of Callum Smith through seven rounds this past weekend.
It was the first time Smith had ever been down in his career and was the Canada based fighter’s 20th knockout, meaning that he is the only champion to have stopped every single one of his opponents inside the distance.
Many people are now hoping a superb undisputed clash can be made between him and WBA belt holder Dimitri Bivol, though Bellew is one onlooker who asked ‘how he’s 39 and is getting more destructive.’
Speaking at the press conference following the fight, Beterbiev was asked where his strength and power comes from.
“I studied in college in Moscow, very good discipline I take from them there. They sleep at 10, wake up at six, there is training, learning, I take a lot from this college. I think it’s from there. When you sleep well, you eat good, you train, I think these things help, I don’t drink, only water.”
