Billy Joe Saunders is heading towards the end of his current contract with Frank Warren according to the boxer himself.
The WBO World middleweight champion is set to defend his title against Martin Murray on April 14th and Saunders is expected to get past the challenger without much resistance.
And after another day in the office with Murray, interesting times are ahead of the WBO titleholder.

Saunders could become the most sought-after middleweight free agent in boxing but he has stated publically that fans and media alike can expect him to resign with Warren.
That being said, Warren’s rival promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom is planning to make a move.
While Hearn hasn’t officially offered Saunders anything just yet, there could be something ‘very serious’ on the way after April 14 according to Hearn himself.
“I’ve not approached Billy Joe Saunders, I’ve not made him any offers and I wouldn’t do so until he’s out of a contract and I believe that’s after the next fight – so he’s said publically,” confirmed Hearn in an interview with IFL.tv
How serious is Hearn about adding Saunders to Matchroom’s stable?
“When and if he’s out of a contract we will be making him a very serious offer and he would wanna hear that,” told the promoter.
Despite Saunders vowing to resign with Warren, there is a strong belief on Hearn’s side that Saunders will want to hear what he’s putting on the table for the middleweight world champion.
“He may well do [sign with Warren]. If he’d become available after the next fight, of course he’d wanna know what the landscape was. If he feels like Frank’s done a great job, if he thinks Frank can pay him more money than anybody else then I guess he will stay there,” pondered Hearn.
Saunders will be keeping a close eye on Gennady Golovkin versus Canelo Alvarez on May 5th as he is expected to face the winner. In a recent interview with Ring Magazine, Golovkin expressed his desire to get all the belts to his collection, which is lacking the WBO title.
But Saunders might get his shot at Golovkin sooner than later thanks to Canelo’s recent positive drug test.
Should the Nevada State Athletic Commission remove Canelo from the fight against Golovkin due to testing positive for clenbuterol, ‘GGG’ wants Saunders as a replacement.
“Obviously if the commission says this fight can’t happen, due to a positive drug test and certain regulations cancel it, the next step, of course, is Billy Joe Saunders, as my dream is to get all the belts,” confirmed Golovkin.
A move over to Matchroom would be shocking to put it lightly and fans should expect Saunders to stay with his current promoter.
The anticipated Golovkin fight is closer than ever, especially if Canelo does get removed from the rematch or simply loses on May 5th, and Saunders is ready to tackle whichever challenge in middleweight world boxing under the Frank Warren flag.
