Billy Joe Saunders has once again voiced out his intention to take on undefeated middleweight divisional kingpin and unified WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC world champion Gennady Golovkin.
In September 2017, Golovkin controversially retained his world titles in a mammoth clash against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
For hw much I hated boxing this time last year ' and gonna give up ' 1 year later it's like when I first lost my virginity! #ImInLove 😉👑

That bout was supposed to settle the ongoing debate as to who warranted the title for pound-for-pound supremacy.
Many were left feeling split as the fight was dubiously declared a draw.
This came after the overwhelming majority felt Golovkin had done more than enough to earn the verdict on the cards.
It has been eagerly anticipated since the very night following their fight that both fighters would eventually throw down a second time. Both champions will look to provide a conclusive ending to their rivalry for the boxing fraternity.
A rematch has been pencilled in for the Mexican ‘Cinco De Mayo’ holiday weekend on May 5th.
On the other hand, there has yet to be any sort of announcement for the huge rematch which does leave room for doubt.

Billy Joe Saunders is fresh off the back of a convincing one-sided schooling of David Lemieux in December.
But he is still searching for global recognition.
The surest way to achieving that would be a clash against the standout attractions in the middleweight division in Golovkin or ‘Canelo’.
He is still likely to be on the outside looking in, for the first half of 2018.
With Canelo and Golovkin circling each other and garnering the undivided attention of the boxing world.
But a more feasible option for Saunders would be to let Canelo and Golovkin settle their saga and then take on the winner for every single world middleweight title.
However, Saunders was keen to throw his hat into the ring of potential Golovkin suitors once again.

On Wednesday evening, Saunders let it be known he is available for a unification. The WBO world middleweight champion tweeted ‘GGG’s promoter directly.
“Golovkin, if red balls don’t want to fight – I’m game to unify,” Saunders stated.
“I’ve had some bad performances in the past, but deep down I know what I’ve got in me and it’s no surprise that that came out,” referring to that win on the BoxNation Podcast in December. “I am definitely the slickest Middleweight in the world!”
