Billy Joe Saunders has stuck the boot in on Chris Eubank Jr following his loss to Liam Smith last night, taking to social media to poke fun at Eubank’s claims he would only need to be at 50% to ‘cook’ the Liverpudlian.
Saunders and Eubank have never got on since their 2014 British middleweight title fight, and the former two weight world champion wasted no time in hopping on Instagram to rub some salt in ‘Next Gen’s wounds after he was stopped by Smith.

The fourth round KO was the first time Eubank has tasted defeat inside the distance, and sent the sold out Manchester Arena into a state of bedlam
After a somewhat tentative opening two rounds, Eubank enjoyed a solid third, landing multiple clean uppercuts on Smith whose trainer, Joe McNally, later admitted had concerned him at the time
The scripted was to be flipped on its head in the fourth, however, when Smith managed to back Eubank into a corner and let rip with a blistering combination that sent ‘Next Gen’ crashing to the ring canvas.
Although he jumped back to his feet, Eubank’s legs had turned to rubber and Smith wasted no time in setting about him once more and the contest was waved off by the referee shortly after.
Eubank has the option to active a contractual rematch clause, and his trainer, Roy Jones Jr, revealed to iFL TV that his charge has every intention of facing Smith again – at some point.
“I don’t know if he goes straight back into it but I do know he wants it.”
As for the victorious Smith, he has stated he is open to a rematch with Eubank, but this time on his terms.
