Eddie Hearn has teased a potential monster card for fight fans this Spring, revealing he is considering attempting to make Dmitry Bivol vs Joshua Buatsi and Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Smith – on the same card.
The two light heavyweight world champions both impressed immensely in recent outings, and calls have been incessant for an undisputed fight in 2023.
However, Hearn told Boxing Social that there is a chance the pair could share a bill in the Middle East.
“We want to bring a massive fight to Abu Dhabi. Bivol needs to fight, so you bring in the Buatsi fight – then does Betebriev fight Callum Smith, and we do a double header?”
“We’ll see what happens, but it’s exciting.”
With both Beterbiev and Bivol considered pound for pound level fighters, an undisputed showdown between the two is widely regarded as one of the best fights to be made in the sport.
However, both men fighting on the same card certainly wouldn’t be a bad alternative.
The WBC have ordered Beterbiev to face mandatory challenger Callum Smith next, or face being stripped of his world title.
After an eighth round stoppage win over Anthony Yarde in London last time out, it is unlikely ‘King Artur’ would have any qualms about fighting on British shores for a second time.
Bivol put on a boxing clinic last November, when he won a comfortable decision over hard punching challenger Gilberto Ramirez, to follow up from his career best win over Canelo Alvarez earlier in the year.
A rematch with Canelo is believed to be in the offing for September, however, with the fight set to take place at 168lbs this time Bivol will likely get the opportunity to get his hands on the Mexican’s undisputed super middleweight crown.
