Though both men are due to face different opponents next and there haven’t even been any negotiations, talk of a blockbuster fight between Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has gripped the boxing world for the past few weeks.
And Crawford’s former promoter Bob Arum has revealed his prediction for the would be match up.
In a recent interview with ProBoxingFans, Top Rank boss Arum admitted Alvarez would be a big favourite in the contest, though added he “wouldn’t count Crawford out in any fight.”
“You’d have to favour Canelo in the fight, because he’s the bigger and stronger guy. But we promoted so many Crawford fights, and he is a tremendous, tremendous talent.”
“I wouldn’t count Crawford out in any fight, though obviously Canelo would be a big favourite in that fight.”
Riding high after being crowned undisputed welterweight world champion against Errol Spence Jr in July, Crawford has stated he would have no problem jumping a whopping three weight classes to take on Alvarez at super middleweight, where he holds all four world titles.
‘Canelo’ initially did not seem just as keen on the fight when it was first mentioned to him in interviews, claiming that he would no credit for defeating the Omaha man if it was to happen, however has seemed more willing in recent quotes.
With the flame haired Mexican fighting Jermell Charlo later this month and Crawford due to take on Spence in a rematch towards the end of the year, fans will have to wait to see if a generational dust up is a realistic possibility.
