Legendary boxing promoter, Bob Arum, has identified one current fighter to be one of the most outstanding boxers of the modern era after a dominant display in his most recent outing.
Terence Crawford was phenomenal in his victory over Errol Spence Jr, knocking out his nemesis in the ninth-round of their long-awaited contest and claiming the undisputed welterweight title in the process.
Since then, ‘Bud’ has been given praise like never before, with a general acceptance that he is the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet and some fans even suggesting that he could have defeated Floyd Mayweather if they fought one another in their primes.
Arum – who has promoted the likes of Muhammad Ali, Marvin Hagler and Manny Pacquiao in his almost sixty-year career in the sport – agreed with the recent appreciation of Crawford, labelling him as one of the best fighters of the current generation, in an interview with Fight Hub.
“Certainly in this era, he would be one of the most outstanding fighters.”
“He’s really that kind of fighter that keeps getting better and better as he gets more experience.”
Despite the rematch clause in his contract with Errol Spence Jr, Crawford has been linked to a number of other clashes since victory over his American dance-partner.
Already, Crawford’s name has been mentioned with Jermell Charlo, Gervonta Davis and Canelo Alvarez, a shortlist spanning across an increadible six weight divisions, showing the confidence that the public has in Crawford and the newfound levels of superstardom that he has reached.
For now, he will need to wait and see whether he will be required to rematch Spence, possibly at super-welterweight.
