Alycia Baumgardner edged out Mikaela Mayer with a split decision victory in what was a close fight with little to choose between the two.
Baumgardner got off to the better start but Mayer grew into the fight and seemed to be the one controlling the pace from the center of the ring.

Two of the judges scored the fight 96-95 in favour of Baumgardner, with the the judge having it 97-93 to Mayer. Most at ringside thought Mayer had done enough to get her hand raised and the decision was met with a small chorus of boos from the packed out O2 Arena.
See how those from within boxing reacted to the decision:

No issues with that decision. I though Baum had it 6-4. Close fight. Expected more activity from Mayer. Would love to see it again.

I love seeing reactions like that especially when the judges get it right.

Ring side here and it was a close contest, but I had Mayer winning that by 2 rounds…

That's was an extremely close fight. I scored it a draw. No robbery

I have it 95-95, a draw. Both Mayer and Baumgardner came to fight and raised their level. Could truly go either way. #ShieldsMarshall

I thought Mayer won that fight and I thought the first judges score card was right. What does everyone think ?

People will say robbery there but it was a very close fight, I had it 96-94 for Mayer but it was close, the commentary just seemed a bit biased towards her work imo

I scored that a draw but if I had too, I’d have edged it towards Mayer. Great fight, can’t call it a robbery! #MayerBaumgardner_
