Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez closed off his trilogy with Gennady Golovkin last night in Las Vegas with a decisive victory.
As was the magnitude of the fight and its history, plenty in the sport had their say on the action, the result, and the judges’ scorecards.

GGG you had a great run. Come back down to middleweight & let’s fight for those belts you still have in December or just pass em over & I’ll look after them for the next couple years while you enjoy retirement… you earned it champ.

Paulie Malignaggi
Canelo always had this fight in his back pocket. Not impressive. Benavidez is the real test at 168 not a 40 year old GGG.

The judging throughout the entire trilogy has been absolutely embarrassing. First fight GGG won clear as day second fight GGG again but it was closer third fight Canelo won clear as day but the judges had it close. Some of the worst judging of all time.

7-5 is nuts.
Two judges seeing it 7-5 is exponentially more nuts.

116-112, 115-113, 115-113 Canelo Alvarez! #canelovsGGG3 ! Fight was not that close in my eyes!

I blame his trainer… he’s telling him to box & use his jab when he should b taking it to him

Taking nothing away from Canelo he’s a solid fighter but if he was the great fighter some want him to be he probably stops an old fighter tonight. #CaneloGGG3

That fight was awful. On all of us who knew it would be and paid anyway. On no one else. Years too late. #CaneloGGG3#boxing

What you’re seeing is Canelo slowed down. GGG touched him and then got confident and started to throw more. A lot to talk about tomorrow with Roy Jones and Darryl Chill Mitchell live on @ThePorterWayPod at 1pm/pt enjoy the rest and tune in tomorrow! #CaneloGGG3

We go to the scorecards in #CaneloGGG3: 116-112, 115-113 x 2 all for Canelo, who retains the undisputed super middleweight title. Absurd to have it even 116-112. Stop that. Right guy won at least. #boxing
