British light-heavyweight champion Dan Azeez has signed a long-term promotional agreement with Boxxer.
Azeez will make the first defence of his title on March 26 at Wembley Arena on Sky Sports. The card already sees cruiserweight Richard Riakporhe face former European champion Fabio Turchi while in the same division Mikael Lawal and Deion Jumah will contest the vacant British title on the same
night.
“I’m delighted to be signing with BOXXER and fighting on Sky Sports,” said Azeez. “I believe I’ve earned my place to showcase my skills on this great platform. I’m looking forward to defending my British title on March 26 as I continue my journey to reach the pinnacle of the sport and become a world champion.”
The 32-year-old unleashed his potential with a comprehensive victory over former British champion Hosea Burton last November. It was an all-action performance from Azeez whose punches proved too much for Burton with the fight being stopped in the seventh round.
BOXXER Founder and CEO Ben Shalom said “Dan Azeez has fought the hard way to the top of the pyramid through Southern Area, English and British titles. He is an inspiring personality with a great boxing style. We are delighted to secure his signing after his last outing against Hosea Burton, where he became one of the most talked about light heavyweights in the country.”
Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports, said, “We are delighted that Dan Azeez has signed for our flourishing promotional partners at Boxxer and will be joining the March 26 card at Wembley.
Dan has a fabulous story and we are really excited about his ascent in the light-heavyweight division!”
