Caleb Plant has spoke confidentially ahead of his huge fight with David Benavidez later this month, stating he may have a surprise or two in store for the big occasion.
The two super middleweight stars will lock horns on March 25 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, with the winner tipped to move on to a world title shot.
And Plant told FightHype that he feels in the shape of his life, with the fight less than three weeks away.
“Me and my team, we’ve got a great game plan. I think some of it will be a little bit of a surprise to everybody. But there’s a lot of things that need to be done to win a fight, especially one of this magnitude.”
“We’re prepared and we’ve been working hard, I took about two weeks off after the Dirrell fight, and then got straight back to work.”
“But I’m feeling good. This is the most in shape I’ve ever been, the strongest I’ve ever been and it’s been the best camp I’ve ever had. I’ve never worked harder for anything in my entire life.”
‘Sweet Hands’ suffered the first defeat of his professional career in 2021 in an undisputed world title fight with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, but bounced back well last autumn with a knockout of the year contender over Anthony Dirrell.
WBC interim belt holder Benavidez has won all of his 26 contests to date, and was actually a full world champion but was stripped back in 2020 due to missing weight.
Many see the 26 year old as the biggest threat to the division’s undisputed king Canelo, however he will have to get through the toughest opponent of his career to date in the form of Plant if he hopes to live up to that billing.
