Mexican rivals Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia have had a first face-off ahead of their fight and there was a noticeable size difference between the two.
This fight was a long time coming with plenty of protracted negotiations but is now lined up for Cinco De Mayo in Las Vegas. It sees Munguia aiming to dethrone undisputed super middleweight king ‘Canelo’ and walk away with all four major world titles.
Both men have common opponents in British fighters Liam Smith, whom both stopped, and John Ryder who was the last opponent each and faced, Canelo went the full 12 rounds and won on points last year, while Munguina managed to stop Ryder in January.
At the launch press conference live from Los Angeles, California, DAZN Boxing captured the moment the two boxers came face to face. It was cordial and started with a handshake then turned into a respectful face-off that showed Munguia to be the slightly bigger man.
The sight got many people talking about what might happen when the fight unfolds but Canelo looked as confident as ever, even though Andre Ward recently claimed he couldn’t consider himself an all time great.
It has been said that should Munguia manage to get the win, Canelo will have the right to an immediate rematch in September on or around Mexican Independence Day weekend.
