Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia Set For Shock Twist With Fight Broadcast On Two Networks

There has been plenty of drama and speculation over who Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez might be fighting next and once again it seems that Jaime Munguia is in the mix but with a shocking twist that the fight could be broadcast on two networks.

Canelo was last out against Jermell Charlo in a straightforward defence of his titles last year. For a while, it looked as though he might fight the second Charlo twin, Jermall, though many people were clamouring for him to face David Benavidez.

His broadcast partner, PBC, was one of them but as a deal could not be struck he left that platform to become a free agent.

Now it seems that unbeaten Munguia could be the man in the opposite corner on his traditional Cinco de Mayo fight date. Munguia was last out in January when he stopped John Ryder, which is something Canelo couldn’t do over 12 rounds against the Brit last year.

Now, according to Guillermo Brito, operational director of Zanfer, everything is agreed upon between the two and it will take place on both DAZN and Amazon Prime, as he told IZQUIERDAZO.

“I know that there are going to be two platforms that are going to broadcast the fight. That helps a lot for the sales project we have. A large number of sales are expected by having it in two alternatives.

“Until yesterday we were already at 95 percent to close the fight. Practically the last details have been defined, we only need to discuss two or three things that would be missing.

“It cannot be made official until the agreement is signed, that is why we wait, and the only thing missing is the signatures. Once that is resolved, it will be announced that the date is May 4, Canelo against Munguía .

“The most important thing, such as emoluments, distributions, tickets, gloves, everything has already been corrected, the only thing left is for both parties to review it and for them to sign the agreement. Everything is ready, but you just have to sign the signature”.

It seems like this fight announcement could finally be imminent for Canelo, although it was also suggested that his deal with PBC could be back on the table.
