The super-middleweight unification fight between WBC and WBA Super champion Canelo Alvarez and WBO king Billy Joe Saunders now officially has a venue.
The May 8 showdown will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Cinco De Mayo weekend with a full crowd likely to be in attendance after Texas Governor Greg Abbott lifted Covid-19-related capacity restrictions in all public places earlier this month.
“This one is special!!! 70,000 fans – Cinco de Mayo weekend!!” tweeted promoter Eddie Hearn.
“Canelo vs Saunders, huge unification lands at AT&T Stadium on May 8 live on DAZN boxing.”
Mexican Canelo added: “Canelo vs Saunders has a venue. With excitement, I’ll be returning to fight in Texas at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. See you on May 8.”
