Middleweight prospect Caoimhin Agyarko has been added to the Leigh Wood-Michael Conlan undercard on March 12 in Nottingham.
Northern Irish boxing fans will now have two of their own to cheer on as Agyarko and Conlan aim to make it two wins for Belfast on the night at Nottingham Arena.
Agyarko (10-0, 7 KOs) departed Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotions stable last year to team up with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing in October. ‘Black Thunder’ got off to a winning start on DAZN when proving too strong and too powerful for the resolute Noe Larios Jr last month on the Liam Smith-Anthony Fowler undercard, stopping his opponent in round nine. His 10th pro win gave Agyarko his first title too, gaining the WBA International middleweight strap.
No news yet on who Agyarko will be facing in his second outing for Matchroom but this year he will be looking to make his way into the top 15 with a governing body. Picking up the WBA trinket in December will certainly put him on the right path to doing that.
Promoter Eddie Hearn believes he has something of a rough diamond in Agyarko, who he hopes to turn into a jewel. And Hearn is already eyeing a future where Agyarko becomes a headline act and tops shows as Matchroom look to get back into the Belfast boxing market.
