Former two weight world champion Carl Frampton has weighed in with a prediction for the fast approaching undisputed welterweight world title fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.
The mouth watering four belt unification has fans, pundits and fighters split down the middle, though Crawford is a slight favourite with the oddsmakers.
In a recent interview with Boxing News, Frampton admitted that he was in agreement with the bookies and believes the “extra special” Crawford will emerge victorious on July 29.
“First of all, it’s a historic fight, one for the ages. You go back to the era of the ‘Four Kings’ with Hagler, Duran, Hearns and Leonard – that’s the sort of fight we’re getting here, an unbelievable fight with two unbelievable fighters.
Errol Spence is the bigger man in the fight, you’ve got to remember Terence Crawford is coming up from lightweight and he’s fighting a man who fought at middleweight as an amateur. But he [Spence] has had a few issues outside the ring.
I love both guys, I think they’re fantastic athletes and fighters. But I’m just edging Terence Crawford to find a way, I think he’s a bit of a genius, I think he’s an unbelievable fighter.
I think Errol Spence is too, but Crawford is extra special.”
Both Spence and Crawford have a rematch clause in their contract, meaning that, after waiting for years for the two pound for pound stars to get it on, fans could see it twice in a matter of months.
The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will play host to the historic clash, which will almost certainly see the winner elevated to pound for pound number one.
