Carl Frampton Has Damning Verdict On Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson

Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson is edging ever closer and former world champion Carl Frampton has offered his damning verdict on the contest.

Tyson is a 57-year-old retired fighter who has often been seen walking with a stick and hasn’t fought professionally since back-to-back losses some 20 years ago. He had an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr in 2022 but many worry what state he’ll be in on fight night in July.

The contest is to be shown on Netflix as the channel’s first-ever live sporting showcase and will see ‘Iron Mike’ take on Paul, the YouTuber turned boxer who has already had several fights early in his career.

The last two of which have ended with first-round knockouts, but against lower level opposition. When he stepped up to face Tommy Fury, a real boxer with limited experience, he took his first loss.

Speaking to TalkSport Boxing, Frampton expressed his concern, and he isn’t the only former fighter to do so.

“I don’t like it if I’m honest. Mike Tyson will be 58 when the fight comes around. I’m asking my kids who they think will win the fight and they’re saying Mike Tyson because they know him as the legend but they don’t realise he’s a 58-year-old man.

“Not long ago there was footage of him in a wheelchair, he’s had an issue with his back, it’s not for me but he’ll be making a lot of money for it.”

Both men have been teasing the other with menacing videos and veiled threats in order to build hype before the main event, a contest for which the exact rules are yet to be fully confirmed.
