Three-time super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has declared that Francis Ngannou is unable to take Anthony Joshua’s soul as it has already been taken, following the Cameroonian’s comments during the build-up to Friday’s heavyweight crossover showdown.
Ngannou lost out to Tyson Fury on his professional boxing debut in October, but still shocked the world in a performance where he knocked down ‘The Gypsy King’ and arguably did enough to get the win on the cards, doing the MMA community proud in the process.
Now Ngannou is aiming to go one better and score a first win in the ring, taking on two-time champion Joshua, who will equally be aiming to show the difference in skill levels between elite heavyweight boxers and the peak of the UFC heavyweight division.
Yet, Ngannou has been confident in the build-up, with another four months of training under his belt ahead of the bout, but on Froch’s YouTube channel, ‘The Cobra’ claimed that Ngannou can not take AJ’s soul, as Andy Ruiz did it when he stopped the Brit in 2019.
“Francis Ngannou has really brought it to the press conference and he has said recently that he is going to take Anthony Joshua’s soul. Too late! [Andy] Ruiz has already took it! That is a bit of a tongue in cheek dig, but he has.
“Anthony Joshua knows, when he gets hit, he gets hurt and Ngannou is saying all of the right things to get inside of AJ’s head.”
Froch will find out what occurs when Joshua-Ngannou goes ahead on Friday March 8th, live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the full card is available for purchase on both DAZN PPV and Sky Sports Box Office.
