Never one to mince his words, Carl Froch has blasted talk of a potential crossover bout – one that he claims would be a ‘mismatch.’
Froch himself has been linked to various novelty bouts over the years, including against the likes of former UFC star Darren Till and fellow hall of fame inductee Joe Calzaghe.
Another man Froch has been linked to is notorious YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul – and that’s whom he has directed his latest tirade towards.
Following his win over Nate Diaz, Paul was clearly feeling confident and claimed a fight with undisputed super middleweight world champion Saul ‘Canelo Alvarez’ was on his radar.
However, in a video on his YouTube channel Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ scoffed at the thought of such a fight, and implored Paul to ‘shut the f*** up.’
“Jake Paul talking about Canelo Alvarez? Shut the f*** up! Don’t mention Canelo Alvarez in the same breath as you and boxing ever again! It’s a totally different sport – it’s a mismatch.”
“Shut up about it.”
It remains unclear whether Paul genuinely fancies his chances in a fight with the iconic Mexican, or if – perhaps more likely – he is simply making the outlandish claims to boost his already huge profile in the boxing world.
Whatever the case, it’s clearly got people wound up, a feat ‘The Problem Child’ is well versed in at this stage.
Victory over Diaz took his professional boxing record to 7-1, and many were impressed he was able to go the ten round distance at a decent pace against a game opponent.
