Carl Froch has came in with some high praise for Gervonta Davis, who many believe is now the biggest star in boxing following his win over Ryan Garcia this past weekend
In front of a packed out crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in one of the biggest fights of the year, Davis dispatched of Garcia with a seventh round stoppage in an extremely impressive performance.
In his pre fight prediction, though Froch admitted he was struggling to pick between the pair, he said he was edging Davis to come out on top and described him as “unbeatable” on his YouTube channel Froch On Fighting.
“It’s a 50/50 fight that could go either way. They can both punch hard and they’re both quick.
Gervonta Davis, for me, I think is unbeatable. I’d probably say Gervonta Davis stoppage.”
The build up to the contest generated huge excitement across the globe, and blockbuster figures are expected from pay per view sales as well as the live gate.
After a tentative start from both men, Garcia started the second round in extremely aggressive fashion, but found himself floored by a vintage Davis backhand that ultimately changed the course of the fight.
Though he beat the count, it was clear ‘King Ry’ was wary of Davis’ power, who from that point began to assert his dominance.
Garcia regained a footing in the fight in the sixth round, having a spells of success which had proved few and far between for him all night
However, a punishing left to the body from Davis in the seventh brought the bout to it’s conclusion.
Garcia appeared to have a delayed reaction to the shot and took a knee a few seconds after it landed, and could only watch on as referee Thomas Taylor counted him out in the biggest fight of his career.
