Carl Froch sparked speculation of ill feeling between himself and Anthony Joshua this past weekend, when he admitted in an interview he had “no interest” in the former unified world heavyweight champion.
Froch was speaking to Boxing King Media in Leeds when he issued the cold response after being questioned on Joshua’s training situation
“I’m not interested at all in Anthony Joshua, not in the slightest. I’ve got nothing to say about him, to be honest.”
The reluctance to answer from Froch could be due to his close relationship with Rob McCracken, who trained ‘The Cobra’ for the entirety of his career and whom Anthony Joshua relieved of his duties after ‘AJ’s first defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.
In the same interview, Froch spoke incredibly fondly of McCracken and claims his success would have not came about without the Team GB stalwart in his corner.
“He was my coach from day one, for my whole pro career – I could’t have done it without him.”
As for Joshua, his training situation seems to still be well up in the air. Despite an improved performance in the eyes of many against Oleksandr Usyk, it appears the Brit will no longer be working with Robert Garcia.
Roy Jones Jr was a name that has been linked heavily to Joshua, after the pair were believed to have had brief conversations in Abu Dhabi last month.
