Carl Froch has reeled off his top five heavyweights in the world today, and has perhaps unsurprisingly named a fellow Brit as the cream of the crop.
In his day, Froch was one of the best super middleweights on the planet and boasts wins over the likes of George Groves, Mikkel Kessler and Jermaine Taylor.
Now a respected pundit, ‘The Cobra’ named who he believes to be the five best big men on the planet whilst speaking on his YouTube channel ‘Froch Talks Fighting.’
Joe Joyce
“Coming in at number five, it’s Joe Joyce – the Juggernaut. He’s relentless, you can’t stop him, you can’t knock him out. He gets hit on the chin and just licks his lips! The fight with Joseph Parker showed he can go 11, 12 rounds and still perform.”
Anthony Joshua
“Anthony Joshua, for me, comes in at number four. He’s shown tenacity, aggression and he’s a great finisher. But that loss to Andy Ruiz, I think took a part of his soul. Now he’s had back to back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk. So he’s got to find his feet against Jermaine Franklin.”
Deontay Wilder
“Number three is Deontay Wilder. If he hits you on the chin, it is lights out – good night Vienna, el sparko. He belongs in the mix with the best heavyweights in the world because of his power. He’s got limited boxing ability, but when hits them on the chin, we know what happens.”
Oleksandr Usyk
“Number two has to be Oleksandr Usyk. I didn’t think he’d be good enough or strong enough at heavyweight, but he proved me wrong. The two fights with ‘AJ’ showed us he belongs in the heavyweight division. Anybody he goes in with, he’ll believe he will win.”
Tyson Fury
“Coming in at number one, ‘The Gypsy King,’ Tyson Fury. He’s got light feet, fast hands and he’s a massive puncher. Look what he did to Deontay Wilder! He’s dominating the heavyweight division and I’d say he’s nearly impossible to beat.”
With talks appearing to stall for a potential undisputed fight between Tyson Fury and Oleskandr Usyk, it looks like fans may not get the chance to see Froch’s top two battle it out for supremacy in the blue ribbon division.
